Well-known security professionals from Secunia, Gartner, Current Analysis and Wells Fargo join fast-growing NSS Labs team
AUSTIN, Texas – September 17, 2012 − NSS Labs, Inc., the leader in test-based research and analysis of information security products, today announced the addition of four new security analysts – Ken Baylor, Stefan Frei, Thomas Skybakmoen, and Andrew Braunberg – to its fast-growing team of industry-leading analysts.
With these additions, NSS Labs is expanding its analyst research capabilities, providing our clients with technical insights based on real-world expertise and hands-on experience. Continuing to meet the growing business demand for network and security expertise, NSS is adding new strategic research and testing capabilities, including mobile security, mobile device management, breach detection, security information and event management (SIEM), cloud and virtualization, risk, financial fraud and privacy.

- Dr. Ken Baylor, formerly Vice President of Security and Anti-Fraud at Wells Fargo joins the NSS Labs team as Research Vice President. Baylor is widely recognized as a leader in bank security, IT security and regulatory compliance and as a speaker at leading industry events such as RSA, BlackHat, ISACA-CACS and FS-ISAC. He previously served as CISO at Nuance, as Vice President of IT and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Symantec, and is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and a Certified Information Systems Manager (CISM).
- Dr. Stefan Frei has over 20 years of security experience and is well-known in the industry as a leading speaker at major conferences such as BlackHat, DefCon, and RSA and as a contributor to numerous security publications. Frei joins NSS Labs as Research Director. Most recently Frei served as Research Analyst Director at Secunia where he conducted security research based on Secunia’s Vulnerability Intelligence and led their collaboration with the industry. A former member of the well-respected ISS X-Force team, Frei brings a strong background in penetration testing, security research, and consulting to the NSS Labs team.
- Former Gartner Analyst Thomas Skybakmoen joins NSS Labs as Research Analyst from Thru LLC where he served as Vice President of Marketing and Product Strategy. Prior to Thru, he spent over 5 years at Gartner, most notably - leading the research firm's coverage of Managed File Transfer - as a Senior Research Analyst in the Web Application Development & Integration group. Skybakmoen provided research and analysis for thousands of Gartner clients, and spoke at Gartner conferences, with press and customers – from c-level executives to enterprise architects - about the IT challenges enterprises face today, particularly around PaaS and SaaS.
- Andrew Braunberg joins the NSS Labs team as Research Director from Current Analysis where he was Research Director for the Business Technology and Software group. For the last 18 years Andrew has focused on the market landscape, trends and innovations for customers including some of the world's largest technology companies. His core areas of focus include enterprise mobility and network security.
