IBM Proventia Network IPS GX6116: SUM December 2008

The objective of the Security Update Monitor (SUM) services is to provide a thorough test of a security vendor’s ability to protect against the current set of threats using a Network IPS. Thus, the NSS Labs SUM Test provides a recurring analysis of protection based on the most current security updates that a vendor has made available. These updates often contain signatures, heuristics and other software patches.

The IBM Proventia Network IPS GX6116 ably identified and blocked 100% of the live attacks in our December 2008 test suite. Even the more difficult client-initiated attacks, which generally pose greater challenges for vendors, were thwarted.
