Corporate Endpoint Protection Group Test Summary: Socially-Engineered Malware, Exploits and Evasions Q3 2010

This test report summarizes the protection against multiple attack vectors offered by 10 leading Endpoint Protection Products (EPP). Relevant threat vectors to corporate end-user PCs are addressed, including exploits against software vulnerabilities and socially-engineered malware attacks from various vectors. In addition, for the first time ever, we performed an in-depth analysis of anti-evasion techniques – the ability of cybercriminals to trick and circumvent the EPP products.

This test utilized socially-engineered malware samples collected from the internet during the time of the test, in addition to common exploits identified up to 2010 and identified by CVE number. All testing was conducted independently and without sponsorship. No malware samples were shared with the vendors prior to testing.
